The research that supports this Nuclear Justice Community Archive is underpinned by a rigorous ethical framework championed by the Centre for People’s Justice at The University of Liverpool, whose core values as empowerment, care, trust, action and change. The Merlin database is published on The National Archives (TNA) website. It is important to note that TNA confirms ‘as part of preparing the Merlin Database records for transfer to The National Archives, the MOD and AWE have undertaken a review of the contents to ensure that any redactions are in line with information rights legislation and, where applicable, national security requirements.’

Our website uses Google Pinpoint software which harnesses AI to read the files and respond to search requests. The results of these search requests should be viewed as one step in the research process and should be checked with reference to other information and historical context. Search results may include content that some people may find distressing.
