The Merlin Database contains a huge amount of documentation, hundreds of thousands of pages, which are difficult to navigate.
The use of new technology has made this easier; searches using keywords and AI are now possible. We are committed to openness and transparency and ensuring that anyone who requires access to the information should be able to access it without any barriers.
Therefore, we have partnered with Google Pinpoint to ensure anyone across the globe can access this essential resource.

We have produced two unique collections to enable you to analyse and explore the vast Merlin collection. They contain public sector information licensed under the Open Government Licence v3.0. Source: The National Archives, Kew. Reference: ES 38 (Atomic Weapons Establishment: Merlin Records).
These collections have been carefully crafted by the team to enable accessibility for everyone. An introductory video has been developed to explain how the collections can be accessed and used. Please watch the video below and then access the collections.
Collection Two - Student Analysis
This collection contains 782 records which have been analysed by the team of students and experts. These documents have been analysed in detail with extra metadata. This was completed over a number of months by the team.
